SOU posts top marks despite foul weather Raider roundup ASHLAND -- The Southern Oregon University track team fought through the miserable weather conditions Saturday at the eight-team Artie Sullivan Invitational at Southern Oregon University. Despite the blistering winds and constant downpour, the Raiders had several individuals perform well. Nels Hage won the men's discus with a personal best mark of 164-feet, 1 inch. He also qualified for the NAIA National Meet by surpassing the necessary mark by six feet. Nicole Robertson was a double winner with victories in the shotput and discus while Rachael Childers took the hammer throw by nearly 25 feet over her nearest competitor. The 400-meter dash was particularly sweet for the SOU men as they picked up a sweep of the top three spots. Mat Davis set the standard for the Raiders with a first-place time of 49.66 while second and third belonged to Danny Hanes and Jeremy Klegseth, respectively. South Medford High graduate Eric McKensie won the 200-meter dash and Joe Sheire took the 110-meter high hurdles despite battling through a strong headwind. Amos Sime captured the 1,500 and Richard Bailey won the shotput.
