Strange for the Mail Tribune SHADY COVE — Calling her good luck "almost unbelievable," Lollie West of Shady Cove still can't take her eyes off the 2006 Toyota 4Runner parked in her driveway. A member of "Wheel of Fortune's" Wheel Watchers Club, West won the car simply by watching television. "They issue you a number online and if that number appears on the TV and if that contestant wins, you win the same prize as the contestant," explained West. "You can win and not even leave your home." That was Oct. 21, and although West and her husband, Jim, were thrilled with the prize, they had no idea it would be months before they could actually drive it. "We won a 2005 car, but it took them so long to get it to us, they called us in January and said we'd be getting a 2006," said West. "As the months went by, we were getting discouraged and thought this wasn't going to happen, but that really perked me up." Expecting the new vehicle in February, the Wests were flummoxed once again by a lack of delivery. Finally, last month, a truck from Toyota of Hollywood pulled up to their house. "It wasn't a big production. They just put the car in the driveway, said 'Have fun and enjoy,' then drove off," West said with a laugh. The Wests can now be found tooling around the Rogue Valley in their first-ever brand new car. "We look at the car and think: 'no car payments,' " West said. "We figure it's going to last the rest of our lives." When she's not behind the wheel, Lollie West is probably "dancing a jig," says her niece, Pat Zimmerlee of Eagle Point. "They just retired and it's perfect," Zimmerlee said. "We're really happy for them."
