Big day for Dangerfield and Nance Monday Jun 23, 2008 at 12:01 AM GRANTS PASS — Jockey Ty Dangerfield provided trainer Pamela Nance with a hat trick, winning three races on the afternoon, including the featured race on Sunday at the Grants Pass Downs. From staff reports GRANTS PASS — Jockey Ty Dangerfield provided trainer Pamela Nance with a hat trick, winning three races on the afternoon, including the featured race on Sunday at the Grants Pass Downs. Dangerfield earned his third win of the day saddled atop We Nita Win in the W.G. Curly Lewis Memorial quarter horse race. We Nita Win slighted Victory's Wicked Lad by half a length, timing 17.60 over the 350-yard stretch. Dangerfield also picked up victories atop Blue Skirt in the 350-yard third race (17.72) and with Always a Player in the 51/2 furlong seventh race (1:05.80), just before capping the afternoon with his third win. For the second straight day, jockey Troy Stillwell notched two victories — both convincingly. After riding Smitten's Kitten for a 33/4 length victory in the fourth race (1:05.2), he won by 51/2 lengths atop Running Charlie in the 41/2 furlong sixth race (55.80). Stillwell's victories on Sunday gave him seven for the season, tying him with last year's leading jockey Nikeela Black, who also found the finish line once. Black followed up Saturday's three-win performance with another triumph in Sunday's second race. She rode Quatro across the finish line for Grants Pass native trainer David Hoover. Another Grants Pass resident, jockey Bobbie Jean Brown, had the most convincing victory of the day and it came in the opening race. At the reins of Christmas Valley, Brown won by 111/2 lengths. Christmas Valley clocked 1:00.8 in five furlongs. Thoroughbreds Running Charlie, Always A Player and Imsomethingspecial — winning the tenth race with jockey Jose Guerrero at the helm — all have two victories on the season in as many appearances.
