COLLEGE FOOTBALL Addison gets back into rhythm with Ducks Comment By Steve Mims Eugene Register-Guard MailTribune.com By Steve Mims Eugene Register-Guard Posted Apr. 25, 2015 at 6:29 PM By Steve Mims Eugene Register-Guard Posted Apr. 25, 2015 at 6:29 PM » Social News EUGENE — For Bralon Addison, any concerns about his knee injury went away at the start of spring practice. The Oregon junior wide receiver suffered a torn ACL just about one year ago that forced him to miss all of last season. Addison warmed up before both of Oregon’s College Football Playoff games, but decided not to play until he was 100 percent confident in his knee and he has reached that point during spring practice. “Probably on day one, there were just some confidence issues,” Addison said on Friday. “Right after that, by day two or three, I was back to normal.” Oregon has completed four weeks of spring workouts before the spring game on May 2. That is when Addison is expected to make his return to Autzen Stadium after catching 61 passes for 890 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore in 2013. “Spring has been great, it is just fun to be back out there at practice,” he said. “I am feeling really blessed to be back out there running around in practice. When you have been practicing for so long, you take it for granted, but when you have it taken away for a while and then you get back to practice, it feels great.” Addison is trying to catch up once again with the speed of Oregon’s offense. “Just getting the rust off, trying to get back in shape,” he said. “Being able to line up fast again and play fast every play, that is the main thing.” Addison was Oregon’s top punt returner two years ago when he had 20 returns for 281 yards and two touchdowns. “If the coaches feel that is where they need me, I will do it,” he said. “Right now I am just trying to get back in shape and re-learn everything. Get everything fresh in my mind.” DETAILS, DETAILS: Don Pellum said his defense is improving as he concludes his second spring as coordinator. “We are at least on pace with last spring and I think we are slightly ahead in some areas,” he said. Pellum said the focus in recent practices has been on fine-tuning some of the details of the defense. “Not only hand placement and foot placement, but details for recognizing formations,” Pellum said. “The fullback is slightly cheated forward, why is that? So details and continuing to build on fundamentals which are tackling, running to the ball and communication.” Oregon has two more practices next week before the spring game. “When we come back on the first day in August we expect to start where we finished in spring,” Pellum said. “This is real, this is serious. When we come back the depth chart will be based on where we finished in the spring and then guys will fight from there.” NELSON ADAPTING: Pellum said he has been pleased with the progress of Charles Nelson at cornerback after he moved from wide receiver this spring. “Charles is wonderful,” he said. “He makes plays and continues to show up. Sometimes he is not in the right position, but he is so athletic that he will be in the wrong position and come out of that to make a great play.” Nelson termed the move an experiment that will be evaluated at the end of spring and Pellum made it clear where he stands on that debate. “From my chair, I would love to keep Charles,” Pellum said. “I have not been involved in any discussion other than that. Whatever is best for the program is what we will do, but we like Charles a lot.” By Steve Mims Eugene Register-Guard MailTribune.com By Steve Mims Eugene Register-Guard Posted Apr. 25, 2015 at 6:29 PM » Comment or view comments Reader Reaction » STAY INFORMED Email NewsLetter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox. fantasy football Fantasy Football Outlook for Seahawks Stars Apr. 22, 2015 at 3:05 am 2015 Fantasy Outlook for Chargers' Stars Apr. 17, 2015 at 6:15 am Fantasy Outlook for Dolphins Stars Apr. 14, 2015 at 6:37 am Biggest Fantasy Winners, Losers in Free Agency Apr. 8, 2015 at 2:45 am Fantasy Football Outlook for Bears Stars Apr. 7, 2015 at 1:09 am RBs Ready to Break Out on New Teams Apr. 2, 2015 at 10:21 am calendar Connect with MailTribune.com Facebook Twitter RSS Back to top Reader Services Reader Services Home Subscriptions Subscriber controls Contact us Submissions Photos Events Letters to the editor Corrections Announcements Obituaries Story ideas Since you asked Alerts Email Alerts RSS Feeds Text Alerts Advertise Media Kit Home Products and services Ad rates Advertising contacts Mail Tribune Daily Tidings The Nickel Shop Our Valley Blogs Stay Informed Email newsletter Sign Up Today Sign up for our newsletter and have the top headlines from your community delivered right to your inbox.
