Russell, Operations Supervisor Subject: Airport Audit Report July 20, 1999 I have read the complaints, the findings and I agree with the recommendations of Debbie Taylor's report. I would like to respond to a couple of the complaints and personal comments you made in our meeting last Friday. It was not my intentions to miss use county property but to simply store a few items in a facility we had room in at the time. I agree with the recommendations of the report, but have decided to take it a step further and pay for the hangar. I have attached a copy of a check I wrote to the Jackson County Airport Authority for $217.82, one months rent for hangar D-6. As to the complaint that there may be some electrical problem or code violations in the airport terminal, this was the first time I have heard of it. We bid most of our electrical work, with the exceptions of small electrical maintenance repairs. David Dushane is licensed to do any electrical maintenance repairs. If we find an electrical code violation or problem during any of our construction, we have the contractor or our maintenance staff take care of it immediately. We have also had Mr. Michael Grubbs, City of Medford Electrical Inspector, look at our electrical work through out the terminal, with no problems noted. I assure you that Mr. Case nor myself would sacrifice safety for dollars. I believe that five years with a perfect FAA Safety Inspection and a safety award from the FAA shows we take safety seriously. Mr. Raymond, you made a comment that maybe our attitude was one that we feel we can do whatever we want to out here at the airport. I assure you that this is not our attitude. I work, along with others, forty to fifty hours a week, on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. We respond to everything from an airplane incident, security violation, to an over flowing toilet in the terminal. We work many summer nights and weekends for special events, such as air shows, air fairs, balloon rally's and the County Fair. We have sacrificed summer vacations because of our many airport construction projects. Last winter during our many winter snow storms and long cold spells, we all had problems at home, but we were here, at the airport, working day and night to keep the airport open. Sir, our attitude here is to give Jackson County and the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport 110% commitment and to make this airport the best airport in the country. Mr. Case's record here should speak for itself. I have never worked for anyone that works harder, treated his employees better, or has stronger morals and ethics than Mr. Case. I would like to thank you, Debbie Taylor and Bobbie Tosca for their time, findings and recommendations in this matter. What ever action that you feel fitting, I hope you take into consideration the hard work and level of commitment put in by many. Thank you.
