Grants Pass woman sentenced for hit-and-run collisions Friday Dec 23, 2016 at 4:28 PM Dec 23, 2016 at 4:28 PM By Chris Bristol Grants Pass Daily Courier A motorist accused of striking a bicyclist — then driving home with the bike wedged under her car and sideswiping another vehicle in the process — was sentenced to nearly three years in prison Thursday. Kelli Jean Kissane, 22, of Grants Pass also was placed on three years of post-prison supervision for her guilty pleas in Josephine County Circuit Court last week to charges of third-degree assault, hit-and-run and DUII. The case stemmed from a series of crashes on the night of Oct. 27. Police said a 21-year-old man was struck by a car while riding a bike at an S-curve on Fruitdale Drive near the Video Station and Williams Highway. Rescuers found him lying unresponsive on the north shoulder of Fruitdale Drive. Moments later, 911 dispatchers were notified of another hit-and-run crash at Swarthout Drive and Cloverlawn Drive, and witnesses followed the driver to Kissane’s home on nearby Robertson Lane. When Kissane got out of her car, officers observed signs of impairment, and she was arrested. The driver victimized in the second crash reported no injuries. His Honda CRV was knocked into a ditch. Kissane's car had substantial damage to the front bumper, hood, and windshield. In addition, a bicycle was found wedged underneath it, police said. The bicyclist, Christopher D. Sandoval, was initially hospitalized in critical condition with a head injury but had recovered sufficiently within two days to communicate with visitors.
