The National Weather Service said a high wind warning will be in effect from midnight tonight to 6 p.m. Thursday. That advisory covers the Siskiyous and Southern Oregon Cascades, Crater Lake, Crescent Lake, Diamond Lake, Union Creek and the Siskiyou Summit. In northern California, McCloud, Tulelake and Dorris are under the advisory. A wind advisory will also be in effect during the same time frame for much of the Rogue Valley, including Medford and Ashland. Weather officials forecast south-southwest sustained winds of up to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph for those locations. Snow is still forecast to follow, with more than a foot expected to fall by Sunday in several spots around Jackson County. Weather officials said snow levels will drop Thursday. By Sunday, up to a foot could fall on the Siskiyou Summit and Dead Indian Memorial Road, with as much as 20 inches expected for Lake of the Woods and Diamond Lake. Crater Lake could see as much as a whopping 3 feet of new snow. A flood watch is in effect for nearby Josephine County and eastern Curry County through Friday morning because of periods of anticipated heavy rainfall — as much as 8 inches for parts of the Curry coastal range — forecast for southwest coastal areas over the next several days. "Runoff from excessive rainfall will cause significant rises on area streams, creeks and rivers with the potential for flooding," the watch reads. "Mudslides and debris flows are also possible, especially near recently burned areas."
