Word comes from Grants Pass that they will bring an imported battery and the strongest team of the year. Owing to the departure of Buddy Scholtz, either Miles or McIntyre will play short for the locals. Sieberts will play third. This is likely to be the last game of the season on the home grounds. Next week the team leaves for Brookings, Cal., where they will play during the Chetco carnival. LOCAL AND PERSONAL The Edw. Mandeville farm has on display at the Commercial Club some of the finest comb honey ever produced in the valley. Mr. Mandeville is an experienced bee man, who recently came here from Texas. His honey is on sale at the grocers. Ask for the Mandeville honey when ordering from your grocer. Classes at St. Mary's Academy, Medford, Oregon, will be resumed Tuesday, September 25. Excellent sleeping porch accommodations are a feature of the boarding school. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Baker and son of Los Angeles arrived in Medford in their car today and will leave for Crater Lake. Coming over the Siskiyou grade they had the misfortune to lose a handbag containing a considerable quantity of money. Mr. Baker is president of the Baker Iron works. Taylor Burch, Leon Lawton and Fire Chief Lawton indulged in a hose fight before the city hall yesterday afternoon during the maximum heat of the day. Numerous bystanders watched the proceedings seemingly were cooled themselves by the cold streams the contestants shot at each other. Mark V. Weatherford of Albany, democratic candidate for congress and W. H. Canon of Roseburg, register of the United States land office, arrived Friday afternoon and will spend a few days visiting friends and strengthening political fences.
