AIFF hires new executive director Steven Remington Monday Sep 12, 2016 at 12:32 PM Sep 12, 2016 at 2:31 PM The Ashland Independent Film Festival has selected the former head of the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival as its new executive director. Steven Remington, of Moscow, Idaho, will replace Cathy Dombi, who will continue working with the festival as a development resource and consultant. She resigned from the top post after less than two years. Maylee Oddo, president of the AIFF board, described Remington in a news release as "intelligent, dynamic and resourceful, with proven successes in his field." Remington has more than 20 years of festival and arts administration experience, including nonprofit management and fundraising, Oddo said. Remington said in the release he's honored to be working for a festival known for its reputation of connecting filmmakers with their audiences. "I’ve come to realize that building community by nurturing the collaborative spirit is one of my callings," he said. "I love the work, and it allows me to provide value to the world." Though most recently from Idaho, Remington has spent over half his career in Oregon, having worked for the University of Oregon, Downtown Events Management Inc. and da Vinci Days Inc.
