Members of the Jackson County Community Services Consortium, which bestows the award, praised Hill’s efforts to bridge gaps between business, community and nonprofit goals. "Ms. Hill is a stellar example of how a local business owner can successfully dedicate time, talent and resources to help residents of Southern Oregon lead more productive lives," consortium secretary Patricia Harper said in a statement. The award is granted through a competitive nomination process. "We need to expand the dialogue between nonprofits and business," Hill said, "and educate business people and workers about the benefits of a strong community." Examples of Hill’s efforts include her annual "McTeacher’s Night" fund-raiser, which allows local educators to work in McDonald’s restaurants to earn money for school supplies and programs. Advertisement Hill, 34, has volunteered as a board member and classroom aide for Junior Achievement. She has provided economic education and work-force preparation lessons to local young people. She has volunteered for Providence Medford Medical Center, the White City Charitable Foundation, HELP-Line, Washington Elementary School and the Crater Lake Highway Transportation and Land Use Study Project. The Jackson County Community Services Consortium includes more than 30 local nonprofit agencies. It is a forum for collaboration and service integration, coordination of advocacy and resource development.
