Jon Thomas Pappas Sunday Feb 5, 2017 at 2:00 AM Jon Thomas Pappas, president of Sitco Lumber Company in Dallas, Texas recently passed away. He was 63 years old. Jon was born April 24, 1953, the son of Walter John and Pearl Evelyn Pappas in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He was a 1971 graduate of Medford Senior High and a 1975 graduate of Arizona State University.  Following graduation from college, Jon began his career in the lumber industry; first in the softwood industry, and later transitioning to imported hardwoods. His career allowed him to travel the world. According to a statement released by his colleagues and friends at Sitco Lumber Co., who honored him in a memorial service, "In his quest to procure the highest-quality imported hardwoods, Jon has made contacts and befriended suppliers all over the globe." Jon loved the lumber industry and the many good people involved in it.   Athletics and animals were also a great source of joy for Jon. Skiing; golfing; and time spent with family, friends, pets, and a fine cigar became his favorite pastimes.  He is survived by his mother, Pearl Pappas, Medford, Ore.; four brothers, David Pappas, Las Vegas, Nevada; Ted Pappas, Andover, Massachusetts.; Alex Pappas, Medford, Ore., and Christopher Pappas, Amesbury, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Pappas who passed in 1966. A farewell to Jon will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Abby's Pizza located at 1080 S. Riverside Ave. in Medford.  Friends are cordially invited to attend and share memories of Jon's life.
