Grants Pass man suffers injuries in high-speed crash on I-5 Jan 13, 2009 12:00 AM A A MEDFORD — A Grants Pass man remained hospitalized Monday afternoon after rolling his car in a high-speed crash on Interstate 5 north of Medford Sunday evening. James R. Jones, age unavailable, was speeding in a 1995 Geo Prizm southbound a mile north of Medford when he crashed into a median at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday and rolled his car several times, said Oregon State Police Lt. Brian Powers. Jones fled the scene but was found by police within an hour about a mile away after a nearby resident reported him, Powers said. Before the crash, police received numerous complaints of the Prizm speeding between 100 and 130 mph on I-5 southbound from Blackwell Hill. The Prizm later was reported stolen, police said. Jones was cited on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving while suspended. Jones was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center for minor injuries and abdominal pain. He was listed in good condition Monday.
