Uncooperative driver arrested in Eagle Point crash By Kevin Opsahl Updated: Jul 04, 2022 05:36 PM A A After driving recklessly and eluding police on Highway 62, a man was taken into custody, and one person was injured [Photo courtesy of JCSO] Jackson County Sheriff’s and Medford police personnel respond to the scene of a vehicle crash in Eagle Point, which eventually led to the arrest of a man suspected of driving recklessly and eluding police. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office apprehended an unidentified man suspected of driving recklessly and eluding authorities Monday on Highway 62. A sheriff’s deputy spotted a black 2015 BMW around noon Monday at South Shasta Avenue, where the vehicle got away and eventually crashed into two other cars near Dutton Road. The suspected reckless driver got out of his vehicle and proceeded on foot before being picked up by another motorist who was not involved in the crash. Medford Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle, where they apprehended the man who got away. A passenger of the getaway vehicle was released at the scene. One victim from another vehicle involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital after complaining of pain. A news release said police closed down north and south lanes of Highway 62 from Dutton Road to Shasta Avenue to just one lane of traffic for 20 minutes so they could investigate the incident. In a news release, Aaron Lewis, JCSO public information officer, described the crash and factors surrounding it as “an open and ongoing investigation.” He told the newspaper the suspect’s name could not be provided at this time because he has no identification and is refusing to cooperate with authorities.
