Letters, June 21 By Ashland Tidings readers Jun 21, 2019 12:00 AM A A Blinded by the bribes? Our world teeters on the edge of crisis in so many ways today, but global warming and all the threats to life it engenders is the most urgent. We are in fact speeding our way to extinction. Unbelievably — despite unprecedented fires, heat, droughts and deluges around the entire world — some people seem hell-bent on enabling that extinction. These are the people blinded by fossil-fuel greed and fossil-fuel propaganda and the people who just avert their eyes and brains. Oregon now has the opportunity to take a first and meaningful step against this growing danger by passing HB 2020 into law. One would think the fight for life would take precedence over greed, but Republican grifters in Salem are blinded to the scientific and visual reality that is staring them in the face. And just as they do in D.C., today’s Oregon Republicans are prone to using dirty tricks instead of law when they aren’t in the majority. The minority, pro-pollution party now stages another walk-out to block HB 2020; willing to kill our children tomorrow for a little money today. There are none so blind as those who will not see.
