Donna Lee Hackett Bray passed away peacefully October 29, 2014, in Gold Hill, Ore. surrounded by loved ones, shortly after celebrating her 89th birthday. Donna Lee was born in Antioch, Neb. and had four sisters and one brother. She was married to Don Hackett for 41 years, and together they had three children, Clarine, Dan (Carol), and Gordon. During her life with Don she helped operate 3 ranches, first in Alliance, Neb., then in Jacksonville and Eagle Point, Ore. Donna Lee was also a teacher of kindergarten through twelfth-grade students in a one-room school house in Alliance, Neb. before moving to Oregon. In Oregon, she worked for 3M Corp. in White City, retiring after 31 years. After Don's passing, Donna Lee married William (Bill) Bray. During her life with Bill, she enjoyed retirement, becoming a world traveler, visiting such places as Africa, Asia, and Europe, going on many horse-packing trips into remote camp areas, and going on annual road trips to Baja, Mexico. Donna Lee was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and spent much time with her daughter, two sons, six grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, one sister, one brother, and a daughter-in-law, (Jan). Her gentle, caring nature and sweet sense of humor will be greatly missed by all her loved ones. A celebration of life and pot luck will be held beginning at 12:00 noon, Saturday, November 8, 2014 at her son Dan's house in Gold Hill, Ore. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her favorite charities, The Humane Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.
