"No Ferris wheel — for now," said Pamela Shipley, owner of Redrock Pizza and Pasta Italian Eatery. The Medford City Council Thursday approved the full-bar liquor license application for the restaurant, which is moving to 17 W. Fourth St. Shipley closed the doors on the old location at 827 W. Jackson St. Tuesday. The menu, from linguini to tiramisu, will be the same, as will the prices, said Shipley. There will be additional entrees. Redrock will serve lunch five days a week and dinner seven days a week.Shipley installed a vintage 1948 Ferris wheel behind the old restaurant on West Jackson Street in 1999, and while the $1 rides were popular with some customers, they weren’t with some neighbors. Residents complained of the late-night noise from rowdy riders, and one neighbor in 2001 hired an attorney who found the wheel was too close to the property line. There was no other place to situate it, so Shipley removed the Ferris wheel and sold it. "I’m sad I sold it now," she said. The restaurant’s new location has been the former home of San Antonio Star Steak House and Saloon, Louisiana Grill and Mexicali Rose.
