Clark, former progressive candidate for the United States senate from Oregon and an excellent speaker, will address a republican meeting at the Natatorium this evening at 8 o'clock and will answer the speech of Senator Chamberlain delibered here Tuesday evening. Ladies especially are invited, as the subject of "He Kept Us Out of War" will be discussed. George Andrews will sing, Dick Posey will recite another amusing poem and the band will play. KLAMATH TO VOTE $300,000 FOR RAILROAD November 14 is the date set by the city council here for the special bond election to vote $300,000 worth of bonds for stock in the proppsed Oregon-California & Eastern railroad, prompted by Robert E. Strahorn. The desire to hold the election at an earlier date, so as to permit construction to start this fall, has been prevented by the necessity for the city to formally adopt the initiatvive and referendum clasuse permitted by the state law. This ordinace was passed by the council Saturday night. The granting of a franchsise to the Keno Power company of Keno to furnish light and power to the city in competition with the California-Oregon Power company will also be submitted to the people at this special election. HEADQUARTERS FOR WILSON OPENED Wilson headquarters will be opened Friday in the Boyden building, on Main street, next to the Star theater, in a room recently vacated by Brown's billiard parlors. Literature, lithographs and campaign buttons will be on hand for distribution and active work begun in the candidate's interest. Messrs. P. J. Neff and E. E. Kelly spoke last night upon campaign issues to a crowded house at Gold Hill and were well received. They speak tonight at Eagle Point and Saturday at Butte Falls. Active campaign work has been begun by county candidates and all report an overwhelming public sentiment for Wilson throughout the country. FLOUNCE ROCK FRILLS There was a dance at the power plant Saturday night which was well attended, several from a distance being present. We are sorry to learn of the death of Mr. Brown of Roseburg, brother-in-law to Grandma Nye and father of our friend and former neighbor, Temple Brown.
