Mail Tribune / File photo Mobile unit brings COVID-19 vaccines to markets, schools and other convenient spots A mobile vaccine unit is bringing COVID-19 shots to the Rogue Valley Growers Market in Medford, stores popular with Latinos and other convenient spots around Jackson County. The shots are free and available to anyone 16 and older regardless of immigration status. Appointments aren’t necessary, and the mobile clinic can administer up to 250 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine per day, organizers said. Partners at the Jackson County Vaccination Equity Center at The Expo near Central Point partnered with businesses, nonprofit groups and faith organizations to host the mobile unit. By spreading out into the community, they hope to reach people who may have a harder time accessing the vaccine, including those who are wildfire survivors, Latino, homeless or working in migrant and seasonal agricultural jobs. Language interpretation, including Spanish and American Sign Language, and support for people with disabilities is available. In Jackson County, Latino people, men, and people younger than 29 have lower vaccination rates compared to other demographic groups, according to Oregon Health Authority vaccination data that was updated Friday.
