North Medford cruises past KU in tennis action KLAMATH FALLS - In a tune-up for next Thursday's Southern Oregon Conference district boys tennis tournament, North Medford cruised past Klamath Union on Thursday. Once again missing a much-anticipated matchup with KU's Reid Arthur, who sat out due to injury, North No. 1 singles player Tyler Wilson eased to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in leading the Tornado to a 9-0 team victory. Arthur and Wilson are expected to battle with Ashland's Ari Zaslow and North's John Falath for next week's singles title. Arthur missed an earlier match with North when he was on a college visit to Gonzaga. As a team, the Pelicans won only three games in the singles competition. SINGLES - Tyler Wilson, NM, d. Skyline Baseball LAKEVIEW 5, HIDDEN VALLEY 4 - At Lakeview, Casey Longacre blasted a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to push Lakeview past Hidden Valley. The Honkers (4-8 Skyline) blew a 4-2 lead when the Mustangs (3-12) scored twice in the sixth. Nathan Yokum (1-1) earned the pitching win, and Ryan Kielty drilled a double and a triple to pace Lakeview's 10-hit attack. Non-Conference Baseball SOUTH MEDFORD 7, EAGLE POINT 1 - Ryan Heil went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and picked up his first pitching victory of the season despite allowing both Eagle Point hits and the Eagles' lone run in a non-conference game at Miles Field. Back-to-back doubles in the third inning by Jon McCollum and Blake St. Onge allowed South (7-12-1) to take a 1-0 lead. Clint Rodreick's two-run blooper in the fourth pushed that lead to 3-0. Heil's two-run single in the sixth highlighted a four-run sixth that closed out the scoring.
