Young abuser will stay with parents until his sentencing A 14-year-old boy convicted of sexually abusing eight children will continue living with his parents in Medford until his disposition hearing. Juvenile authorities say the Ashland boy has been on conditional release with his parents since the allegations surfaced last year. Conditions include that he not live in Ashland, have no contact with the victims, have no unsupervised contact with children under age 12 and be supervised at all times -- he can't leave the house alone. "He's basically on house arrest," said Joe Ferguson, the juvenile department's case work manager. The boy checks in with a probation officer once or twice a week but is not in custody. Authorities said the arrangement is typical of juvenile cases. On Wednesday, the boy was convicted of 12 counts of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse. The victims were eight boys and girls from a single family ranging in age from 7 to 12. The abuse occurred between 1996 and 1998 at their elementary school and homes. The boy could be held in the juvenile system until he is 25, pending the decision made at the disposition hearing, which has yet to be scheduled. An Ashland man, Anan Kanjanakaset, 29, also had been charged with abusing some of the children. He is scheduled to go to court March 9.
