Sayre Mary Jean D. Sayre, 91, passed away March 31, 2015 at her home in Medford. She was born August 13, 1923 in Montreal, Canada to Frederick C. and Mary Yeomans Donald. Upon graduation from McGill University, Mary Jean began her career as a reference librarian in Ottowa, before venturing to Portland, Ore. After marrying in 1956, she and husband Don moved to Coalinga, Calif. to raise their three children. She later devoted herself to her work as a coordinator for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program before retiring to the Rogue Valley in 1991. Mary Jean was a member of AAUW for many years, as well as serving in the hospital auxiliary of R.V.M.C. and as a volunteer for the SMART reading program. Unfailingly gracious to all, Mary Jean was also an avid crafter and gardener. She is survived by daughter, Jeanette (Medford); son, Roger (San Francisco); and sister, Carol E. Donald (Toronto). She was preceded in death by husband, Donald B. Sayre; son, Brian; and brother, James F. Donald. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Medford Congregational United Church of Christ, 1801 E. Jackson St., Medford.
