Medford sex abuse suspect may have other victims, police say By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Dec 13, 2021 01:54 PM A A A Medford man faces a string of felony charges accusing him of sexually abusing at least one juvenile girl for more than a decade, but Jackson County Sheriff’s Office detectives believe other victims may be out there. Emilio Castillejos-Lopez, 46, is in the Jackson County Jail facing a dozen sex crime charges that include eight Measure 11 counts of first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse, along with felony charges include luring a minor, two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of attempted first-degree rape, according to a release from the sheriff’s office issued Monday and filings in Jackson County Circuit Court. Details about the alleged abuses are sealed in court records, but the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office alleges that that at least one of the abuses spanned between August 2007 into 2019. The attempted first-degree rape charge accuses Castillejos-Lopez of attempting to engage in sexual intercourse with the female juvenile when the victim was younger than 12 years old, according to a filing by the DA’s office. Sheriff’s office detectives started investigating Castillejos-Lopez Nov. 24, after they got a report of possible sexual assault in the Medford area. By Friday morning, police served a search warrant at Castillejos-Lopez’ home in the 3900 block of West Main Street and arrested him. Detectives found reason to believe there may be more victims after examining digital devices with the aid of the multi-agency Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force. As of Monday afternoon, Castillejos-Lopez remains an inmate at the Jackson County Jail held on $2.27 million bail. Anyone who may have information in the case is asked to contact JCSO Det.
