An Ashland police officer Friday arrested Duncan on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, second-degree sexual abuse, fourth-degree assault, violating a restraining order, harassment and telephonic harassment. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained late Friday on more than $1 million bail. Burglary, criminal mischief — Ronnie Lee Jimenez, 18, of the first block of Blackpine Drive, Medford. A Medford police officer early Friday arrested Jimenez on charges of first- degree criminal mischief, attempted second-degree burglary and attempted second-degree theft. Police believe Jimenez smashed a window in a burglary attempt at Sim’s Cycle and Fitness in the 700 block of Medford Center at about 1 a.m. Friday. He was lodged in jail and was later released on his own recognizance. Drugs — Shannon Lea Whelchel, 30, of the 1000 block of Spring Street, Medford. A Medford police officer Friday arrested Whelchel on three counts of endangering a minor and methamphetamine possession. She was lodged in jail, where she remained late Friday on $17,000 bail. Drugs — Brandon Lee Evans, 21, of the 200 block of West Glenwood Road, Medford. A Medford police officer Friday arrested Evans on a charge of methamphetamine possession and two warrants charging him with failure to appear in court. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Friday on $17,000 bail. Burglary, theft — Joshua Lee Gibson, 26, of the 5500 block of South Pacific Highway, Phoenix. Gibson appeared Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court on an indictment charging him with first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, fourth-degree assault and harassment. He was booked into jail and released on his own recognizance. Intoxicated driving — Russell Dean Overhauser, 42, of the 100 block of Rene Drive, Shady Cove. Overhauser appeared Friday in Circuit Court on an indictment charging him with felony driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was booked into jail and released on his own recognizance. Assault — Stephen Juan Recio, 40, of the 1800 block of Roberts Road, Medford. A Medford police officer late Thursday arrested Recio on charges of fourth-degree assault, disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief, carrying a concealed knife and menacing. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Friday on $45,000 bail. Injury accident Hit-and-run wreck — Ashland police are seeking information about a hit-and-run crash that occurred at about 2:20 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Siskiyou Boulevard. Police said an unknown-type vehicle struck a man walking in the street, but the driver left the scene before officers arrived. Anyone who sees a vehicle with a missing passenger-side view mirror and missing passenger-side windshield wiper is asked to contact Ashland police at 482-5211. The victim was taken to Providence Medford Medical Center, but his identity and condition were not made available by police.
