Daedalus raises $51,000 for HIV/AIDS programs Grants totaling $51,000 have been made by the Oregon Shakespeare Festival to several HIV/AIDS programs in Southern Oregon and elsewhere. The money was raised through this year's Daedalus Project, the festival's annual AIDS benefit. The Daedalus Project is a day-long event that was held this year on Aug. 23. It featured an art auction and sale in the Angus Bower Theater and culminated in a variety show that night. Money was also raised through a 5-kilometer run/walk, a reading of David Marshall Grant's "Snakebit" and a sale of theater items including costumes worn in OSF plays. Festival officials said the project this year raised $45,000, and the OSF added $6,000 raised in previous years' projects. This was the 12th year for Daedalus. Receiving money were: OnTrack Inc./the Alan F. Collins AIDS Project, of Medford, $26,500; the Abdill-Ellis Lambda Center, Golden Rule Project, Ashland, $7,000; The Names Project, San Francisco, $1,000; Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, New York, $1,000; Siskiyou County HIV/AIDS Foundation, Yreka, Calif., $3,500; AIDS Support and Prevention of Josephine County, Grants Pass, $8,000; the Rex Rabold Fund, Ashland, $3,000; The Grove Project, San Francisco, $1,000.
