"High pressure will build over the region and may last into early next week. Air will stagnate in the valleys," a statement from the weather service reads. The advisory covers Josephine and Jackson counties and parts of Douglas and Curry counties. The languid air mass could cause air quality to deteriorate because of trapped pollutants. Jackson County air quality officials have declared today a "yellow" day, restricting the use of woodstoves and fireplaces. Burning is only allowed in certified wood stoves with no visible smoke emitted from your chimney. Officials said the restrictions likely will last into early next week.  Call 541-776-9000 to hear the daily woodstove advisory, updated every morning, or go to www.jacksoncounty.org . The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, which monitors the amount of very small particles of pollution in the air in Medford, reported at 10 a.m. that the air quality here over the past 24 hours was moderate. Air quality index information is available online at  www.deq.state.or.us/aqi/index.aspx .
