Mail Tribune / Jim Craven Authorities seize meth lab Five people arrested in raid near the city of Rogue River By ANITA BURKE Mail Tribune A multi-agency narcotics-enforcement team found a methamphetamine lab Thursday on Shefflein Gulch Road near Rogue River. Police arrested four people at property in the 900 block of Shefflein Gulch Road on probation violation charges and one man on a warrant. Drug charges linked to the lab are pending, said Jackson County sheriff’s Capt. Joe Puckett. Officers from the Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team served a search warrant at the suspected meth lab at 7 a.m. Thursday, Puckett said. The property has a four-bedroom house, a large shop, and several trailers and outbuildings as well as a motorhome where investigators found a working lab, he said. Trash piles and junked cars are scattered across the property. Investigators got a warrant to search the property after hearing complaints from neighbors and developing information from other sources, he said. Advertisement He noted that investigators said they have gone to the location numerous times over the last decade or so. The Mail Tribune reported a bust of a lab on a bus on the property in late March 2001. People were processing amphetamines Thursday morning in the small motorhome while others slept there, Puckett said. Officers arrested Eric William Isherwood, 38; Brandy Jean Jackson, 26; Karen Martin, 38; and Cynthia Lynn Jordan, 32, on probation violation charges. Patrick Leon Johnson, 35, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. All were lodged in the Jackson County Jail. Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team members spent much of the day Thursday outfitted in protective gear gathering evidence from the motorhome and continuing their investigation. The team involved in Thursday’s bust included officers from the Oregon State Police; police departments in Medford, Central Point and Talent; the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service, and sheriff’s departments in Jackson and Josephine counties, Puckett said. The Jackson County Narcotics Enforcement Team seized 10 meth labs last year, down from an all-time record of 18 labs in 2001. In September, JACNET reported that five labs had been seized so far this year.
