5,000 pot plants seized Wednesday in Eagle Point raid By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 09, 2022 01:15 PM A A Police raided an illegal marijuana grow Wednesday in the 13000 block of Highway 62 in Eagle Point. [OSP Photo] More than 5,000 illegal marijuana plants were seized and $58,000 in fines levied Wednesday at an illegal marijuana grow site in the 13000 block of Highway 62, Eagle Point, according to a news release from Oregon State Police. Five people were detained, identified, interviewed and released by OSP’s Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Section, which was assisted by the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team of the Medford Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Homeland Security Investigations. The Eagle Point property was described by OSP as a location “leased for the sole purpose of illegal marijuana cultivation.” The marijuana was being grown inside 18 greenhouses. Jackson County Code Enforcement responded to the property to look into multiple code violations. The fines were for such violations as unapproved greenhouses, solid waste, and electrical installations lacking proper permits.
