Roseburg's posts overmatch Grizz ASHLAND - Marla Morin was dwarfed by Roseburg in Southern Oregon Conference girls basketball Tuesday. Ashland received outstanding production from 6-foot junior center Morin, but Roseburg's front line of 6-2 Lindsey Heard and 6-1 Shannon Burmeister combined for 44 points as the Indians pulled away for a 64-56 victory. Roseburg (9-4, 6-1 SOC) rushed to a 21-6 first-quarter lead before the Grizzlies (7-10, 3-4 SOC) came back to take a 27-26 halftime advantage. "They started out well because of our lack of rebounding," Ashland coach Stephanie Santos said. "They got second and third attempts. We totally picked it up in the second quarter." Morin scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. "She (Morin) was a little bit of everywhere," said Santos. "She was going to the hoop, we were posting her up and she even shot 3's." Not only did Morin have her hands full with Heard and Burmeister underneath, but the Indians also used 6-3 Kristen Bitter and 5-11 Jori Grady. "They're just so huge," said Santos. "Heard does everything well. She's a physical player and can shoot a 3-pointer." Heard accounted for all five Roseburg's treys. Abby Gooch scored 13 for Ashland.
