United Express plans to add Seattle flights United Express, which is operated by SkyWest Airlines, will start nonstop service between Medford and Seattle. The addition, announced Wednesday, will give United Airlines and United Express nonstop flights between Medford and the four largest airports on the West Coast. The four daily roundtrip flights between Medford and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will start Feb. 16. They will equal the number operated by Horizon Air, which began three nonstop flights between Medford and Seattle in August 1997 and added a fourth last summer. SkyWest Airlines, based in St. George, Utah, is the nation's fourth largest regional carrier. It operates United Express flights between Medford and Portland and San Francisco. "New nonstop service to Seattle-Tacoma ... nicely complements existing United and United Express nonstop service to Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles," said Steven Hart, SkyWest vice president for market development. The new Medford-Seattle service will use 30-passenger Brasilia turboprops. Departures from Medford are scheduled at 5:51 a.m., 10:05 a.m., 2:46 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., arriving in Seattle about 90 minutes later. The late flight will not be operated Saturdays. Arrivals from Seattle are scheduled at 9:22 a.m., 2:07 p.m., 6:17 p.m. and 10:37 p.m. The late flight will not occur Saturdays. United officials could not be reached about fare information, but Marge Morris of Rogue Travel in Medford said roundtrip fares between Medford and Seattle are running about $202, plus taxes and fees, and less in off-peak periods.
