Behind another big performance from senior Katie Clevenger, South Medford remained unbeaten in Southwest Conference play with a 22-25, 25-15, 25-12, 25-17 win over South Eugene on Friday night. Clevenger, who celebrated her 18th birthday Friday, finished with 22 kills, eight aces and five digs for the Panthers (7-0, 4-1 SWC), who have won five straight. South setter Baylee Davis recorded a career-high 46 assists, while Lola Horton added five kills and two blocks. Brooke Johnston and Mayen Akpan both had seven kills and two blocks. Akpan, a freshman, added two aces. Boys Soccer CRATER 0, PHOENIX 0: At Central Point, scoring opportunities proved to be scarce on both sides for Crater and Phoenix, as the nonleague matchup ended scoreless at Dutch Meyer Stadium. The Comets’ best opportunity came in the third minute of play but Pirates goalkeeper Julius Bolstad got his hands on the ball for the deflection. Phoenix had more opportunities but Comets senior keeper Diego Estrada finished five saves to help Crater (1-1-2) salvage the tie. The tie brought the Pirates’ season record to 0-4-1. volleyball.jpg
