Since You Asked: Vintage post lights to be relocated to new fire station Thursday Aug 17, 2017 at 12:01 AM I noticed the antique, electrified post lights in front of the old fire station at Eighth and Lincoln streets in Medford are now gone. They were originally in front of the Elks temple on Central Avenue, back when they were gas-lit and it was the county seat, and then Medford City Hall for a while. I was wondering what happened to them. The firefighters back in the day placed them in front of the station and electrified them. I hope they were saved for posterity somewhere. — Karl G., Central Point Karl, Medford Fire-Rescue recognizes the historical value of the post lights and has plans to relocate them to the new Fire Station 3. Shortly after the Eighth Street station was vacated in February, the two vintage post lights were removed and are being held in a secure location until they can be repaired, refurbished and relocated to the new station at the corner of Siskiyou Boulevard and Highland Drive, next to Bear Creek Park, said Chief Brian Fish. Station 3, which is in the early phases of construction, is scheduled to be finished next spring. Fish said he was aware the lights had previously illuminated the steps to the old City Hall building but did not know they also had graced the Medford Elks Lodge.
