Rogue River pageant joins the nationals ROGUE RIVER -- For the first time, the young woman who wins the Miss Rogue River pageant this year will have a chance at bigger crowns. The local contest has been included in the Miss American Scholarship Pageant association, the annual collection of local and state titles that culminate in selection of Miss America. The change revamps the Rogue River pageant, scheduled for March 26. The contest is now open to Rogue River women ages 17 to 24. This year, contestants will be required to choose a platform -- a cause or idea the woman would like to promote. The contest will also include talent, swimsuit and evening gown competitions. Norika Woodall and Teresa Krueger are organizers of this year's event, sponsored by the Rogue River Chamber of Commerce. To qualify, pageant contestants must live within the boundaries of the Rogue River School District, although they don't have to be enrolled in school. For those interested, a meeting is planned at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Bradley Realty Office, 100 Pine St., Rogue River. For more information contact Woodall or Krueger at 582-0111.
