A half-inch of rain pelted Jackson County throughout Saturday, with more of the same expected today, said meteorologist Sven Nelaimischkies at the Medford office of the National Weather Service. "We're not worried about flooding yet," he added. "We need continuous streams of heavy storm systems, mixed with rain and melting snow to bring that about." Traveling over the Siskiyou Summit to and from California remained a nightmare Saturday, as between 3 and 6 inches of snow fell there in the afternoon. Other areas saw similar snow levels. Fish Lake, for example, received five inches of new snow. Showers may continue moving into the area from the coast, which saw up to two inches of rain Saturday, Nelaimischkies said. Snow levels may drop tonight to around 2,000 feet, with accumulation of between 2 and 4 inches. Snow may reach the valley floor at times with little or no accumulation.
