Make sure you have solid doors and deadbolt locks. In fact, replace your exterior locks since you don’t know how many thousands of copies of keys were made before you bought your home. Advertisement Make sure all windows lock properly and can’t be jimmied open. Also, it’s recommended that you have good lighting — even consider motion-sensor lights on all corners of your house. Install a one-way viewer in your door. Trim vegetation away from windows. Think like a burglar and walk around your house looking for weaknesses. Join a neighborhood watch program.
