Kevin Lewis Hardy, 33, no address listed, fled Circuit Judge Lorenzo Mejia’s courtroom July 3 moments after Mejia told him he would be jailed without bail until he could be sentenced. That day, a jury had convicted Hardy of fourth-degree felony assault, fourth-degree assault, menacing and harrassment in an assault on his girlfriend. Corrections deputies were on their way to escort Hardy, who goes by the nickname "K-Town," to jail when he ran. Jail officials said Hardy was being held in the Solano County Jail, in Fairfield, Calif., and extradited back to Medford Thursday. He had fought extradition. Information on what charges landed him in jail in California wasn’t immediately available. He is jailed here on warrants charging him with second-degree escape and a driving under the influence probation violation, as well as the original fourth-degree felony assault charges and a custody violation charge. He is scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. today, jail officials said. According to court records, Hardy is a convicted sex offender who has failed to register in Jackson County. In 1999, he was convicted in Circuit Court of fourth-degree felony assault, fourth- degree assault, harassment, and recklessly endangering another person.
