She was born in Watkins, Oregon April 6, 1918 to John and Pearl (McKee) Byrne. She was one of four children. Gladys grew up in the Applegate Valley and attended Beaver Creek School and Jacksonville High School. Although she spent much of her adult life in Medford, she never forgot her Applegate roots. She was the last remaining charter member of the Upper Applegate Grange. Gladys worked at Camp White during World War II in the mess hall, and for many years was a site manager for Loaves and Fishes in Eagle Point. In 1949 she married Glenn Williams, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn; son, Gary (Brenda) Williams; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Gladys was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Morris; sister, Aletha; and grandson, Eric. A celebration of life to be held September 5, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the Apple-gate River, at 1517 Palmer Creek Rd. Directions may be obtained by contacting [email protected].
