> September 06. 2014 11:14AM Medford woman grazed by bullet while doing laundry A 19-year-old Medford woman was grazed by a bullet early this morning while doing laundry at her home in the 1800 block of Crater Lake Avenue, Medford. Medford police Sgt. D.J. Graham said the woman was doing a load of laundry shortly before 1 a.m. when she pulled a pair of her boyfriend's pants out of a backpack. A small 9 mm handgun in a pant pocket fired, grazing the side of her head, he said. The 19-year-old was transported to Providence Medford Medical Center for treatment. Graham didn't know how serious the injury was, but said it was described as a grazing wound across the side of her head that cut her skin. No charges have been filed, Graham said. The couple's names were not immediately available, and Graham did not know whether there were children in the home at the time. Graham reminded gun owners to be responsible with their weapons. "Keep them secure in a safe place," he said, adding Medford police have free handgun locks available at the police station, 411 W. Eighth St., as part of Project Safe Child.
