’Stangs score second straight shutout By Mail Tribune staff Jun 18, 2022 04:37 PM A A ROSEBURG — Good things are bound to happen when you don’t let the opposing team score, and that’s exactly what the Medford Mustangs accomplished for a second straight outing Saturday morning. St. Mary’s High graduate Beau Aldrich scattered six hits in a complete-game effort as Medford scored a 4-0 victory over the Salem Withnell Dodgers during the Roseburg Tournament at Legion Field. Aldrich posted four strikeouts and one walk, with only two Salem baserunners reaching as far as third base in the American Legion AAA baseball contest. The Mustangs (7-2) scratched out the first run of the game in the third inning after consecutive one-out singles by Johnny King and Cody Borraggine and a two-out RBI single by Aiden Horsley. Aldrich was then afforded some breathing room in the fifth inning after a three-run surge highlighted by a two-run single from Cameron Sewell and an RBI single by Owen Thompson. Horsley finished 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Borraggine was 3-for-4 with one run to pace Medford’s 10-hit attack. The Mustangs wrap up tournament play with a game Sunday before returning home to host Roseburg Dr. Stewart’s at noon Monday at Lithia & Driveway Fields.
