Stroke fells Mail Tribune sports columnist Randy Hammericksen, a longtime sports columnist, writer and editor for the Mail Tribune, was in critical condition in a Medford hospital Wednesday night after suffering an aneurysm and stroke Tuesday. He underwent surgery at Providence Medford Medical Center after collapsing at his home late Tuesday morning. Hammericksen joined the Mail Tribune as sports editor in 1987 after previous newspaper jobs in Eureka, Calif., and Corvallis. He and his wife, Beth, have five children.
