M. Oumbey on Griffin creek was searched Wednesday afternoon on a warrant sworn out by Charles Isaacs, who resides on a ranch east of Medford, charging her with having stolen clothes and personal effects belonging to Mr. Isaac's deceased wife. The goods were taken, Mr. Isaacs alleged, about a month ago when Mrs. Oumbey was in his employ for two weeks. The search resulted in the finding of a considerable number of the stolen articles which were identified by Mr. Isaacs and Miss Mary Stancliff. Upon the promise of Mrs. Oumbey to return all other articles stolen, she was not taken into custody but will be given an opportunity to make reparation. The loss was discovered last week when Miss Stancliff and Mr. Isaacs' mother were preparing the effects of the dead woman for safe keeping. LOCAL AND PERSONAL The commercial fishing season closed last night. The river has been open for two months, although the first month yielded very few fish. The last two weeks have been better, about a ton being averaged each night. The principal market for the catch has been Portland, but when the rivers of the north were opened, a market in California was found for part of the fish. The price for salmon has been steady during the season, the average price being about 8 cents a pound. The first performance of "The Mikado," one of the most tuneful comic operas ever written, was given last evening at the opera house under the direction of George T. Wilson, of Medford, for the benefit of Cherry City lodge No. 498, L. O. O. M. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Farlow of Lake creek were in Medford Thursday on business. Mr. Farlow is an extensive stock raiser and this season has an exceptionally large band of cattle to market. The range, he says, has been excellent this season.
