Bonanza man dies in Highway 140 head-on By Local report Oct 05, 2018 10:59 AM A A A Bonanza man died and his passenger was rushed to a Medford hospital after a head-on crash on Highway 140 early Thursday evening, Oregon State Police said. Richard Cota, 37, was traveling east at a high rate of speed in his Dodge Neon and entered the westbound lane to pass in a no-passing zone, according to a Friday morning release from OSP. His vehicle crashed into Frederick French’s Ford F-350 pickup, which was traveling west near milepost 14.5, after both drivers swerved onto the westbound shoulder in an attempt to avoid a collision. Cota died from his injuries at the scene. His passenger, Amanda Cota, 33, also of Bonanza, was transported by ground ambulance to Providence Medford Medical Center. French, a 52-year-old Klamath Falls resident, was airlifted to Rogue Regional Medical Center.
