SOU women overcome Evergreen State Magee-Arick, a 6-foot-2 junior from Portland, came off the bench to nail 9 of 16 shots, including 4 of 6 3-pointers, to lift the Raiders (12-9 overall, 8-3 Cascade) to their fourth consecutive victory. "(Kara) would be starting at any other school in the league, but she's extremely comfortable coming off the bench here," Raider head coach Kevin Wilson said. "She really gives us a lift." Despite Magee-Arick's efforts and junior forward Amy Tangedahl's second double-double over the past three contests (a game-high 14 rebounds and 10 points), the Geoducks (2-23, 0-11 Cascade) looked like anything but a last-place team in the second half. After SOU hit seven of its first nine shots en route to a 16-6 lead six minutes into the game, and extended a 15-point halftime edge to 70-50 with 10 minutes remaining, Evergreen used a 13-1 run over the next seven minutes to pull within eight. The Geoducks, however, failed to score during the final 3:20 to fall to 0-5 all-time against SOU in Ashland. "It was a sloppy game at times," Wilson said of the contest that featured 49 ballhandling miscues. "I can live with some turnovers, but not the ones that are stupid, and we had several of those tonight. But I was never concerned about our ability to put points on the scoreboard." Evergreen State received got 22 points from junior forward Chandra Rathke, while freshman guard Belqui Guardado added 16. In addition to Magee-Arick and Tangedahl, two other Raiders finished in double digits: senior all-star forward Melissa Core, who collected a season-best 18 points, and junior guard Sara Marks (14). Sophomore guard Lindsey Hilaire (seven) and Marks combined for 13 of SOU's 25 assists. SOU, now tied for third place in the nine-team league title chase, continues a four-game homestand Saturday against Northwest.
