Southern Oregon road projects approved Road projects in eight Southern Oregon cities got a stamp of approval Tuesday from the Rogue Valley Area Commission on Transportation. The 25-member commission created a priority list of projects but won't give final approval until the public comment period closes when the commission meets again Oct. 30. The region was given $20 million generated from state title fee increases, but there are $25 million worth of projects on the list, said chairman Mike Montero. The solve the $5 million difference, commissioners recommended city public works directors and engineers find ways to scale back the projects or postpone portions of the work. Here is the revised list: Highway 99, Clover to Creel, Talent, $1.9 million for general turn lanes, curbs, gutters and other improvements. Interstate 5 south interchange, Medford, $14.1 million to rebuild interchange. Highway 99 at Pine Street, Central Point, $700,000 for a new intersection and improved railroad crossing. Highway 99 at Depot Street, Rogue River, $1.9 million for a new intersection and improved railroad crossing. Ashland roundabout at Siskiyou Boulevard, Lithia Way and East Main Street (near the fire station and the library), $500,000. Sixth and Seventh streets, near Highway 99 and the Rogue River bridges, Grants Pass, pavement project, $1.1 million. California Street (Highway 238) through downtown Jacksonville, pavement project, $2.95 million. Second Street (Highway 99) through downtown Gold Hill, pavement project, $1.8 million. Highway 99, Sixth and Oak streets, pavement project, Phoenix, $1.25 million.
