Anthony Edward Ramirez, 39, and Myron Leon Bernardo, 40, both of Sacramento, were arraigned Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of delivery of methamphetamine and delivery of heroin. According to a probable cause affidavit, a trooper stopped a black Honda Accord around 11:19 p.m. near milepost 32 on Interstate 5 after his radar gun caught the vehicle exceeding the posted speed. The trooper wrote that the vehicle smelled strongly of air freshener,and that he saw three cellphones in the car, despite there being only two occupants. Ramirez, the driver, appeared nervous and couldn't keep still inside the car, the trooper wrote. Ramirez allegedly told the trooper that he was headed to Spokane, Wash., to possibly purchase some vehicles, but Bernardo said he was only along for the ride and didn't know what city they were headed to. After Ramirez and Bernardo gave written consent to search the car, the affidavit says, the trooper found a pound of heroin and just over a pound of meth hidden in a secret compartment in the dashboard. Also seized were a .38-caliber revolver and $2,200 in cash.
