Cooling shelters open in Medford

Rogue Retreat and local churches have partnered up to offer cooling shelters in Medford for those who need a place to escape from triple-digit temperatures. Lunch and water will be provided at all locations. Shelters will be operated and supervised by the Kelly Shelter program of Rogue Retreat, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sheltering and finding homes for the homeless. All will be open from noon to 6 p.m. on the designated days. The National Weather Service in Medford predicts temperatures of 100 degrees or more into next week, with the hottest days expected today and Sunday at up to 107 degrees. Here’s the list: Today and Friday — First Presbyterian Church, 85 S. Holly St. Saturday — Medford First United Methodist Church, 607 W. Main St. Sunday — Hawthorne Park Monday and Tuesday — Set Free Christian Fellowship, 1032 W. Main St. Wednesday — Medford First United Methodist Church, 607 W. Main St.
