Police charged David Wayne Shults, 28, of the 1300 block of Kaye Street, Medford, with invasion of personal privacy and obtaining the contents of communication. Both misdemeanor charges stem from recording someone without their knowledge, Lt. Mike Moran said. The invasion of privacy charge relates to the photographic image and the obtaining communication charge is linked to voice recordings, he said. Police reports said Shults apparently recorded sex in April without telling his partner. When the woman found out about the tape in late June, she called police, Moran said. Officers arrested Shults at his home Tuesday afternoon. He was lodged at the Jackson County Jail, then released when he posted cash on $8,000 bail. He is set to appear in court July 15. Advertisement Moran said investigators don’t know if Shults taped other sexual partners without their knowledge. Anyone with concerns about any possible taping can contact Medford police at 774-2230 during the day or 774-2250 after regular office hours. Medford man jailed for rape of 6-year-old A 21-year-old Medford man is in jail facing charges that he raped a 6-year-old girl he knew. Medford police arrested Peter Darrel Matheisen, no address listed, Tuesday evening on two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $6 million bail. "These are some pretty serious Measure 11 charges," said Medford police Lt. Mike Moran. The state’s "tough on crime" law calls for a sentence of eight years and four months for each first-degree sodomy and first-degree rape charge, and six years and three months for each first-degree sex abuse charge. Medford police continue to investigate to see if Mathiesen had any other victims. Rape, assault charges filed Medford police arrested a Medford man Tuesday on first-degree rape, sodomy and kidnapping charges, as well as fourth-degree assault and harassment charges. Elvin David Trout, 49, of the 1400 block of Yellowstone Avenue, Medford, remained in Jackson County Jail Tuesday night on $3,007,000 bail. Medford police Lt. Mike Moran said police got a report Sunday night just before midnight that a consensual sexual relationship had gone awry. The woman told police Trout forced her and refused to let her leave when she wanted to. She finally ran from his house to neighbors and called police. After an investigation, police arrested him Tuesday.
