SOU sprinters fare well at meet EUGENE � Southern Oregon University sprinters Eric McKenzie and Tiwana Merritt won their specialties at the Oregon Preview track and field meet Saturday. McKenzie won the B section 200 meters in 22.89 seconds, while Merritt claimed the A section 100 meters in 12.78. The Raiders also registered three second-place finishes: freshman Sean Peterson in the B section 1,500 (4:02.63); Kailen McNair in the B section 400 meters (51.05) and the foursome of McNair, McKenzie, Jon Schumacher and Eric Bixler in the A section 4 x 100-meter relay (42.52). Bixler also took third in the B section 100 meters in 11.23. Tennis NAMPA, Idaho � A day after its first loss of the season, Southern Oregon�s women�s tennis team bounced back with an 8-1 victory over Northwest Nazarene to improve to 8-1 on the season. Julie Nelson defeated Keri Barnes, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 4 singles to notch her eighth single victory, then teamed up with her sister, Shannon, to top Liz Archung and Carrie Hays, 8-2, in doubles.
