ODOT will hold I-5 interchange meeting The Oregon Department of Transportation will hold an informational meeting Jan. 8 for people who want to learn more about the south Medford interchange project. The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway. Experts will be on hand to answer questions about the $50 million proposed project. Residents who attend can watch a demonstration model that illustrates how traffic will flow from the interchange into Medford. Traffic engineers and planners will discuss the effects of traffic flows with the two construction alternatives, as well as talk about the impacts of the no-build option. Information will be available about the possibility of a new interchange at South Stage Road, including why ODOT did not select that option to ease congestion and improve safety. Written comments will be accepted at the meeting, although oral testimony will not be taken. The proposed south Medford interchange project also will be the topic of a live television broadcast on "Moving Ahead with ODOT." The episode will air Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. on RVTV, channel 9. Viewers can phone in with questions. The meeting and broadcast are part of a 30-day extension of the public comment period.
