Although the sixth-place Raiders (4-7-1, 3-4-1 Cascade) controlled the tempo for much of the contest and outshot the eighth-place Owls (4-8, 1-7 Cascade) 31-11, SOU shook off OIT only by the margin of junior Deborah Bigelow’s game-winning goal in the 60th minute. Southern Oregon grabbed a 1-nil lead in the 25th minute when freshman forward Stacy Ermini took a short Bigelow pass and fired a 20-footer past Owl goalkeeper Katrina Collins. Tech tied it shortly after halftime when junior Angela Ward scored from 5 yards out on a corner-kick scramble. The equalizer — OIT’s first goal against SOU spanning five meetings and 410 game minutes dating back to 2000 — stood for only nine minutes, as Bigelow took advantage of a penalty area scramble and sent a 10-footer past Collins at the 59:50 mark. Oregon Tech, which fell to 0-5 all-time against the Raiders, was unable to muster a shot over the final 30 minutes. Freshman midfielder Rachel Serpa led all players with seven shots, while Bigelow, who carded a school-record 11 last Saturday in a 1-1 tie against Cascade, finished with six. The Owls received four shots, including three on goal, by freshman forward Kelly Suminski. Southern Oregon freshman goalie Patti McCoy registered her fourth career collegiate victory after corralling seven Owl shots. The Raiders start a three-game road swing Saturday Warner Pacific.
