Medford fire crews arrived four minutes after receiving the 12:46 a.m. call. The blaze was under control in 22 minutes. The owners had already escaped from the home before the fire department arrived. Two firefighters fell through the ceiling while crawling through the attic. One had minor injuries but didn’t require medical attention. The other was uninjured. Fire officials estimated damage to the structure and loss of contents amounted to about $75,000. Medford Fire Investigator Greg Kleinberg said the cause of the blaze hasn’t been determined, but there is a likely culprit. "We’re pretty sure it was the furnace in the back," he said. "They’d had problems with it before."
